Moving Service Questions

 

 

How does our moving service work?

First the mover has to get a rented truck; U-Haul perhaps; U-Haul trucks should come with an appliance dolly a moving pads. Next, the mover needs to book a moving date and estimated start time with us. Then, our moving team will arrive to load and or unload the truck. Packing and unpacking is an additional service that is available with a separate packing team. Whether you're moving in-town or out of Columbus, our labor only moving service will help you with loading or unloading your entire move.

 

What type of moving services do you offer?

Labor Only - RHR movers will load and unload the rented truck and any other vehicles as needed and directed.

 

When are you open?
We're open Monday - Saturday. Closed on Sundays and all major holidays.

 

When does the time start?
When the movers arrive at the first location.

 

What if I have multiple pick up or drop off locations?
We do not charge an extra fee but the time will continue to run.

 

How do you bill for time?
We bill in 30 minute increments.

 

Do you provide Interstate moves?
Unfortunately we do not. All of our moves are Intrastate only. Which means we transport goods within one State, Ohio, that never crosses State lines or includes a segment outside of that same State. Intrastate moves are NOT regulated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration only Interstate moves.

 

How much does the moving service cost?

Our moving service is billed by the hour.
Residential moving
is $50 per hour, per man. The hourly rate is reduced to $25 per hour, per man after the third man and beyond. Commercial moving is $70 per hour per man.

 

How many movers will I need?
Our recommendation is to have a 2 man crew for a 1 or 2 bedroom move. A 3 man crew for a 3 bedroom move and a 4 or 5 bedroom move may need multiple crews.

 

How much will my move really cost, are there hidden fees?

There are no hidden fees what so ever! Our service is billed by the hour. We typically do not like to give a set amount of hours a move will take, because every move is different and it just depends on the number of items and boxes that have to be moved. We will do our best in giving you an estimated amount of hours but please remember it's just that, an estimate as actual times may vary; walk-throughs are also recommended.

 

What form of payment do you accept?
Cash, check and all major credit cards.

 

What area do you service?
We are a local moving company. We perform moves within the state of Ohio only.

 

Do you have a stair/flight fee?

Yes, there's a Outdoor Stair Fee - Moves involving exterior steps add an additional $15 per hour, per man. And there's a $15 additional Interior Stair Carry fee - this charge is for carrying items up or down flights of stairs.

 

Do you have a seasonal fee?

Yes, we are inclined to charge a fee for Winter/Snow season moves. Extra precautions have to be made when snow and ice is on the ground. Add an additional $10 per hour, per man for all moves in the winter.

 

Do you have a minimum charge?

Yes, there's a 2-hr mini um service charge for all moves and a min of 2-3 movers for each move. After the minimum is met, the rate is billed in 30 minute increments.

 

Do you charge for travel time from your office to the location?

Yes, we charge a small fee. For local drives there's a flat rate travel fee of $50. For out of town drives, 1-3 hours away, there's a flat rate travel fee of $130; and for out of town drives 4-5 hours away there's a flat rate travel fee of $220.

 

Is a deposit required?

Yes, a $150 deposit is needed before the moving service begins. The remaining balance is due on move completion.

 

Will you have a contact person onsite or provide a contact number for the day of the move?
Absolutely! Every move will have a project leader and a contact number will be provided on your paperwork.

Do you offer packing and unpacking services?

Yes, we do. The packing rates are $100 for two packers and $150 for three packers. The mover is expected to have all the packing materials.

 

What type of packing services do you offer?

We offer Full Packing - If you'd rather not worry about packing at all. We will send a team of experienced movers and packers to your home to pack up the attic to the basement. We can leave out any items you'll need on the night before moving, and quickly pack those up on move day. Our team will wrap and pack all items and label all boxes. We offer Partial Packing - If you don't mind packing some - or even most - of your items on your own, but would like some additional help, we can accommodate that too. Our team will wrap and pack one item or a room or two, the choice is yours. And we offer Unpacking - Moving is generally an exhausting experience, even if you hire professionals to do the hard labor. If you would like some assistance settling in to your new home, we can undertake the entire job or simply provide a few hours of service - your call. Our team will unpack and put away items as directed or labeled by boxes. We're here to help.

 

I would like to save money on this move. What can I do to keep the price low?

Since our moving is billed by the hour and anything that you do that we don’t have to do makes for saving time. and money. For instance: 1. Be completely packed before we get there.2. Take apart any and everything you can take apart or break down; such as radio/ stereo equipment, computers, beds, exercise equipment and pack in boxes or preferable original boxes. And 3. Move boxes and other items close to the door.

 

How can I get in touch with you if I have any questions a day before or during the move?

Call us during regular business hours or email us anytime. We’re glad to help you with any questions or concerns that may arise during the process. You will also be assigned a project leader that will be available before, during and after your move.

 

Is there anything you can't move?
By law, a moving company can not transport hazardous materials such as gasoline, bottled gases and other flammables, ammunition and explosives.

 

Do you charge extra for large items?
No, our rates are by the hour. No hidden fees or charges ever!

 

Do you have a cancellation policy?
No, although, we do ask for the consideration of calling us as soon as possible to inform us.

 

Will my belongings be insured during the move?

Yes, we offer two levels of liability; standard coverage and full value. movers are required by law to provide a minimum amount of free coverage. You are reimbursed 60 cents per pound for anything lost or damaged during the move. This coverage is a minimum and should not be relied upon to cover you for any significant damage. For example, if you have a priceless piece of china that weighs two pounds, you would only be entitled to $1.20 of compensation if the china is damaged in transit.

RHR reserve the right to repair any damaged items prior to replacing them regardless of the level of coverage you selected, and this will be stated in your written estimate.

 

How are claims handled?
If you notice that any of your items are damaged during the move, you should file a written claim for loss or damage. RHR will provide you with at least 60 days to file a claim, but will specify a timeframe in your estimate. RHR will acknowledge receipt of your claim, in writing, within 15 days after we receive it. RHR must then offer you a settlement, in writing, within 30 days of receiving your claim .
